The Asian Pacific American Student Union will promote a community evironment and serve as a support service and network that will focus on the needs of Asian American students, faculty, staff and all allies.
Goal Statement:
Promote awareness of and appreciation for Asian American and Asian culture, history and heritage on the University of Oregon campus; and to provide a safe environment for Asian Americans and allies of color.
In its infancy, APASU promoted academic classes and sponsored APIA cultural activities. Today, APASU greatly expanded its role as an organization that advocates for APIA issues in the community and on campus. Every year, APASU organizes APIA Heritage Month in May, bringing our heritage and issues to the forefront of the community. APASU also provides an excellent APIA Resource Center of novels, magazines, and videos that address APA issues, culture, history and identity. They are available in our office in room 29 of the EMU. Please feel free to drop by the office to ask us questions or just to hang out.
