Greetings from Orientation Programs,
We are currently accepting applications for Student Orientation Staff (SOS). The University of Oregon's SOS is comprised of a select group of fun, energetic, and reliable students who serve as official hosts to new students and their families during IntroDUCKtion sessions and Week of Welcome. SOSers help facilitate a smooth transition to college life by mentoring new students, answering questions about the university, leading students around campus, and assisting with academic advising and registration. SOSers work primarily during the month of July and one week during both August and September.
The SOS plays an integral role in welcoming new students to the UO and helping them enjoy their time on campus from the outset of their college experience. The staff is the university's primary connection to the incoming class. It is also a great way for you to enrich your experience as a UO student and is an ideal option if you are looking for upper-division credit, a great résumé builder, and a fun summer job.
Being an SOSer is an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. It will help broaden your horizons and develop great skills. You will learn about the university, our diverse population of new students, and yourself.
If you have any questions, please contact us. You may e-mail us at uointro@uoregon.edu, call us at (541) 346-1159, or come by the office in suite 465 Oregon Hall. The application can be found at 465 Oregon Hall, or online at orientation.uoregon.edu.
All applications are due by 5:00 P.M. on February 1.
