Students provide security patrol to monitor and report unusual conditions, especially in residence halls. Coordinator arranges hiring and selection in late summer and then conducts 4 hour training in early fall. Students can expect to gain law enforcement techniques, supervisory experience including training, scheduling, discipline and mentorship.

As a service to the university community, the Department of Public Safety provides opportunities to gain valuable job skills and participate in campus safety activities. Employment at DPS allows for the student to directly support the department mission.

Involvement in campus safety helps maintain the "team effort" attitude that DPS fosters. Crime prevention and security programs like bike patrol, facilities lock-up, resident housing patrols, and clerical positions in our front office are all convenient ways for students to supplement their incomes and gain valuable experience.

If you are interested in participating in campus safety services, please stop by the Department and any of our courteous front office staff will be happy to fill you in on how you can get involved!
