The three lead lifeguards will assist the Director of Aquatics in coordinating UO lifeguard staff. This  includes hiring training in-services orientations and teaching classes. Students will gain leadership communication teaching planning and training skills.

Students who are interested in physical activity and sport are good candidates for the many part-time jobs generated by the large variety of programs and services offered by PE & REC and in the operation of facilities.

Students may apply for any of the more than 150 positions, employing 200 to 250 students each academic year in a variety of areas.

Positions include: Lifeguards, Office Assistants and Sports Officials in Recreational Sports, Rec Techs, Equipment Issue Supervisors, and SRC Student Staff. Lifeguards must have current certification; training is provided for other positions.

These positions are primarily filled by Work-Study and and Tech Fee students.

LIFEGUARD

Lifeguards are required to hold a current American Red Cross lifeguard card and a current CPR for the Professional Rescuer card. All potential candidates are required to pass an in-water skills test and a CPRPR skills test. Working as a U of O lifeguard is challenging, rewarding and convenient.
