Executive Committee
Club Sports is a co-ed, competitive, recreational program designed to be an athletic alternative that bridges the gap between existing intramural and intercollegiate programs.
With the support of two professional staff members, student volunteers initiate, organize, and coordinate the clubs. Through participation in Club Sports, students gain experience in the areas of group organization, problem-solving, budgeting, and time management.
The time, effort, and commitment of these students not only enrich their clubs, but also allow Club Sports to represent the University of Oregon across the nation.
The Executive Committee is comprised of five student club members who are responsible for overseeing the success of the Club Sports program. This committee of five students works closely with the Club Sports Director to govern the Club Sports program.
The committee helps to establish policies, presents budget to EMU Board, distributes approximately $30,000 to teams throughout the year based on individual requests, and serves as the discipline review board.
The committee holds weekly meetings and is an academic year- long experience and commitment. Students can expect to gain experience in governing a large, multi-faceted program and practice in developing decision-making skills in an unbiased setting.
The committee allocates program funds, decides on the future direction of the program, and oversees disciplinary action for team violations.
Students who serve on the Executive Committee learn to balance authority with responsibility and view issues in a global perspective.
