Greetings from Soromundi: Lesbian Chorus of Eugene!

Begins: Saturday February 19, 2011 at 12:00am
Ends:   Sunday February 20, 2011 at 12:00am

Where: Lane Community College

On Saturday, February 19, 2011, Soromundi will host an all-day choral workshop in Eugene. It will provide women who are interested an opportunity to join the choir for a day, see what we are all about, and sing in a concert that evening to benefit the Women In Transitions program at Lane Community College. We are very excited about this!
How does this work?
The workshop chorus will perform five or six songs at the end of the benefit concert. If you would like to participate:
* Check your schedule to see if you are available on February 19 for the entire day. If so, complete the attached registration form and mail to Soromundi, PO Box 40934, Eugene, Oregon 97404. Registration deadline is January 11. There is a $25 registration fee that covers the cost of music, a Soromundi t-shirt, and admission to the concert.
* If you would like extra time and support for learning the music, two optional choir rehearsals are scheduled for January 18 and February 8. These rehearsals are optional.
* Upon receiving your registration form, we will send music that you can review on your own as well as a full workshop and concert schedule for February 19. It will also include contact information if you have questions.
What if I don't read music? What if I have never sung in a choir?
Soromundi has always tried to include any woman who wants to sing, regardless of experience level or music-reading ability. This is still important to us, and ALL ability levels are welcome! If you can't read written music, please consider all the other ways you might like to learn music. For some this might include reviewing and memorizing the lyrics or taking a hand-held tape recorder to rehearsal so you can tape your part and play it back later.
The music we have selected varies in difficulty. We're sure that some of it will be accessible to all, and there may be one or two pieces that are more challenging, but together we can make it work. The important thing is not to worry too much about this. Please do not let this keep you from getting involved. We can help you find your section, and help you find your voice.
If you're unable to participate in the workshop, we encourage you to support the program by coming to the benefit concert on February 19, 7:30 p.m., LCC, Ragozzino Performance Hall. Tickets are $10, $8 for students and seniors, and are available at the door or on-line at
We hope you'll join us and be a "Mundi For A Day!" Remember to block out the day on your calendar. If you start to get nervous as the day approaches, talk to your friends or contact us so we can support you. It will be great fun!
