Gloria Holden graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts in 1950. She received an Elementary Education Certificate from Oregon Normal School in the same year. Her career began as an elementary school teacher where she taught from 1950 to 1954. She has always maintained a deep dedication to education and youth oriented initiatives. Gloria has served on the Board of Trustees for American Humanics, Inc., the Board of Directors for the Center for Excellence in Education, and has participated in the Les Amies Children’s Charity and in WAIF, Inc. In addition, she has served as an Inner Circle Member for the Los Angeles Children’s Museum and was a member of the President’s Circle for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Gloria is currently active in numerous civic, cultural, and educational initiatives. She is President of the Glen Holden Foundation and an Emerita board member of Scripps College. In addition, she is involved with The Assistance League of Southern California, the Early Learning Center for Young Children, Saint John’s Health Center, The Mancini Institute, Pepperdine University, ARCS Foundation, Claremont College, Children’s Bureau of Los Angeles, Cuisine A Roulette, Diadames, a support Group for the Mirman School (a school for gifted children), Board Member of Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Costume Council, and is a benefactor and member of the Music Center of Los Angeles and it’s Blue Ribbon Board of Directors.
Gloria has also taken an active role in several political entities including the California Republican Party and the Republican Regents. She is a proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and has volunteered in a multitude of capacities with the organization. Gloria is married to Ambassador Glen Holden and they have three grown children, Glen Jr., Georgianne, and Geannie as well as eight wonderful grandchildren.
